We’re all for color (being the good Indian girls we are) but there’s something to be said for the dramatic, timeless appeal of black and white. During London fashion week, trendsetting design houses Prabal Gurung, Carlos Miele, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Sabyasachi, Louis Vuitton, and Givenchy took black and white in a new direction by infusing this monochrome look into tribal prints, florals and ikat. The move towards black and white was a striking change from uber colorful Spring/Summer 2011, but it’s a welcome one.
Luxemi loves this trend because it isn’t overly complicated. It’s not about extreme glitz or outrageous designs. It’s about exuding pure sophistication.
Wear this Zebra Print Saree with Beading (top left) for a cocktail party or formal event or shimmer in this Net Anarkali with Silver Zari (middle) at a wedding function. Looking for something a little more daring? Try this Black and White Sequined Saree by Satya Paul.
To complete the look, keep your accessories to a minimum and opt for bold makeup, like a red lip or nails (or both) like Cameron Diaz does so beautifully below!
