Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 – Gen Next Collections Review

We always love seeing old favorites like Neetu Lulla, Krishna Mehta and Anita Dongre at Lakme Fashion Week, but there’s something exciting about checking out the gutsy, avant garde statements coming from the fashion show’s up-and-coming designers. Here’s a glimpse from three of the Gen Next designers who made a major statement at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

Astha Sethi and Sidhartha Arora

new designers to watch India fall winter 2012

If you thought avant garde, mega-volume dresses were only for designers like Alexander McQueen and Viktor and Rolf, you must have missed the imaginative looks from the Astha Sethi and Sidhartha Arora Lakme Winter 2012 collection. The question is, Luxe readers, was this collection a hit or miss?

Asa Kazingmei

spanish inspired indian fashion designers to watch lakme 2012

Asa Kazingmei used the Lakme runway to give us his take on matador chic. With bold Spanish colors, tailored silhouettes and architectural elements to add the volume factor, these looks were definitely attention grabbing. Which look from this cross-cultural collection would you wear, if any?

Aniket Satam

new indian designers to watch 2012

Aniket Satam’s collection was filled with celestial-inspired dresses and separates that blended together creamy whites, violets, metallic midnight blues and a gold graphic print. Did this designer go too far in weaving together too many distinct elements, or did you like his complex aesthetic?

Wondering how these lines compare to the collections from Lakme’s main designers? Check out our post for the full recap!
