Zodiac Inspired Indian Fashion – Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio (Water Signs)

The water signs are all about intuition, creativity and emotion –the makings of an artful sense of style. If you’re a Pisces, Cancer or Scopio, Luxemi has an Indian fashion horoscope just for you!

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Emotional, sentimental and imaginative, Cancer is cautious and sympathetic when it comes to interacting with others. White and silver tones are closely associated with this quiet, understated sign. If you’re a Cancer, you share a sign with Jessica Simpson, Lindsey Lohan, Maya Rudolph, Blondie, and Meryl Streep. Given Cancer’s gentle soul and imaginative nature, Luxemi loves this Silk and Cotton Striped Saree by Neeru Kumar. It’s a creative spin on classic pin stripes that would appeal to any sentimental, artistic Cancer. Complete the look with these whimsical Lotus with Pearl Ball Earrings.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

Scorpios tend to have the most magnetic, energetic personalities of all the water signs. Simultaneously outgoing and intuitive, Scorpios are usually associated with murky, dark red hues. What we love about this Maroon Hand Painted Georgette Saree by Satya Paul is that it strikes the perfect balance between subtle and bold. With a deep maroon hue and vibrant lime detailing, this saree embodies Scorpio’s complex nature. It’s a look we could definitely see on celebrity Scorpios like Katy Perry, Anne Hathaway, Rachel McAdams or Emma Stone.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

Known for dual personalities and artistic flair, the Pisces is the most sensitive of the signs. Often synonymous with the ocean and a sea-green hue, Pisces is the sign of celebrities like Drew Barrymore, Carrie Underwood, Eva Longoria and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Want your fashion to reflect your soft, artistic side? Your inner Pisces will love the artful shift of colors and moods in this Tonal Saree with Banded Sequins.

Ebony Magazine July 2012 Issue –Kelly Rowland Rocks Luxemi Earrings + Bracelets!

kelly rowland's look from ebony magazine cover trey songz

Luxemi has loved Kelly Rowland ever since her Destiny’s Child days, so we were thrilled when the R&B superstar rocked our accessories on the July 2012 cover of Ebony Magazine. Want to emulate Kelly’s summer accessory style? Here’s how to get the Ebony Magazine look.

For the cover shot, Kelly is wearing a gorgeous 1950s-inspired Dolce & Gabbana midriff top and high-waisted skirt (one of the designer crop-top looks we raved about last week in our midriff post). But our favorite part of Kelly’s cover look is the way she stacked Luxemi’s Kundan Bangles with Bright Gold Finish, Thick Kundan Bangle with Antique Finish, and Gold Coin and Crystal Bracelet Set to give her Western look some Eastern shine.

On the Ebony July 2012 table of contents page, you’ll see Kelly doing justice to another of Luxemi’s favorite pieces: our Bronze and Crystal Ovular Earrings. The singer looks tribal chic in a cream-colored fringe dress, standing alongside Trey Songz. We love how our dangling earrings pick up the bronze details in Kelly’s dress and add an Indian twist on her tribal vibe.

Kelly Rowland isn’t the only fashion icon we’ve seen wearing stacked enamel bracelets or tribal looks this summer. Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon and Sarah Jessica Parker are all enamored with the enamel bangle trend, and we’ve seen Rihanna and other trendsetters going tribal for Summer 2012.

Miss our posts on the enamel and tribal trends, or want to emulate Kelly Rowland’s Ebony Magazine cover look? Be sure to check out the Luxe Report for more Summer 2012 styles and tips on infusing Indian flair into your wardrobe.

Spring & Summer 2012 Trend – Floral Prints

Spring is blooming all around us, including in our closets. Roses, daffodils, daisies and orchids are by far the biggest fashion trend of Spring 2012, popping up in designer collections from Prada to Prabal Gurung and Dolce & Gabbana to Valentino. Here’s our take on the best florals of Spring 2012.

Indian inspired floral looks from runway designers 2012

As soon as the Spring 2012 Oscar de la Renta line hit the runway, the fashion world was swooning over its standout look, a romantic, vintage-inspired strapless gown with poppies and daffodils decorating its bodice and full skirt. Paired with a twiggy, flowered headpiece, this nostalgic look updates 1960s flower power for the modern fashionista.

Another design powerhouse to create floral romance is Valentino. Valentino’s Spring 2012 Collection features too many beautiful dresses to mention, but one memorable look was a wispy long-sleeve knee-length gown featuring an ethereal rose silk fabric that will be just as sophisticated decades from now.

One reason we love the floral trend is that it offers a ton of versatility. Valentino’s line went romantic with flowers, but other designers used florals in a vibrant, flirty way. Case in point? Proenza Schouler, whose mixed floral separates are punchy and super modern, Prabal Gurung, whose mix of blazers and blouses feature a bold purple floral print, and Altuzarra, who uses an edgy blend of leather and Hawaiian-style flowers.

The floral trend is also springing up on some of our favorite celebs. Kudos to Sonam Kapoor for looking both elegant and flirty in this floral and onion dress from Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2012 Ready To Wear line. Other A-Listers who love florals: Jessica Alba, Shailene Woodly and Beyonce.

To snag your own whimsy floral look, Luxemi loves this Tonal Anarkali with Floral Gota Work. What makes this anarkali so stunning? The way its designer used gota work to make these flower motifs both intricate and bold. This look has the same soft tones as a lot of the standout gowns in Valentino’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection (which isn’t surprising, considering pastels and sorbet tones are also making a comeback this season).

For a punchier floral that features a brighter color palate, try this Floral Cotton Gota Salwar. This light and airy salwar has embroidered flowers winding perfectly around its seams, a style used in a lot of our favorite Oscar de la Renta Spring 2012 looks.

And if you want the ultimate artisan floral saree, this Handknit Flower and Rich Pearl Saree is breathtaking. Hand-knit red and pink flower blooms wrap gorgeously around this piece’s high-quality netting, and delicate pearl work gives the piece a haute couture feel. It’s romantic, unique, and the epitome of why florals are the perfect look for spring!

Whether it’s Proenza Schouler’s flirty florals or Valentino’s sophisticated blooms, Luxemi loves how flower prints merge Mother Nature with runway fashion. There’s no better time to let your inner flower power shine!
